It was an app that provided a background check on an individual for just $2 a pop. But then, with privacy in mind, Apple put a stop to it.
"We think that the demand was so incredible that they needed to just take a better look and kind of evaluate what it actually is we were providing," said 30-year-old BeenVerified co-founder Ross Cohen.
Now, two years later, the app is back.
"You know, somebody who is going on a date has the right to see if somebody is a former criminal," said Cohen.
When asked by WCBS 880 reporter Alex Silverman if he was concerned the information might be too easy to acquire, Cohen pointed to social networking websites.
"You know, the act of searching and social networks like Facebook to find this objective information is not only acceptable, but it's expected at this point. You know, why shouldn't it be the same for this third party, objective public record information," answered Cohen.
