Police: Officers Arrest 15-Year-Old Boy Spotted Firing Gun In Bed-Stuy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police this week caught and arrested a teenage boy they allegedly saw firing a gun in a Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn public housing development.
Around 8:10 p.m. Friday, the four uniformed NYPD officers from Patrol Service Area 3 – Sarah Leclair, Jimmy Maldonado, Mellissa Napoli, and Marc Lebron – were patrolling the Breevort Houses development in unmarked vehicles, police said.
They saw a suspect standing in front of the building at 295 Ralph Ave., firing a gun at two other males, police said.
The boy was also seen chasing the would-be victims into the public housing development, police said.
The officers exited their vehicle and began chasing the suspect, police said. As the officers caught up to the 15-year-old boy, they saw him toss the gun on the ground, police said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was arrested in front of 274 Ralph Ave. without incident. He was charged as a juvenile with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Police recovered a Taurus PT111-PRO 9mm semiautomatic handgun. The would-be victims have not been located.
