B&C Show Blog & Audio: 'Melo, No. 7

Bobby Dwyer

Its official…All the physicals are complete and the league has given their stamp of approval, say it with me – Carmelo Anthony is officially a member of the New York Knicks.  The suspense also ends as we learn that the 'Melo-Man' will be wearing the #7 tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks when he takes the floor at the Garden for his first game as a Knickerbocker.  It will also mark the first game for a man who was named MVP of the 2004 NBA Finals, Chauncey Billups, who will replace Raymond Felton as the starting point guard.  Boomer was quick to point out that Donnie Walsh deserves the majority of the credit for not only bringing Carmelo to the Big Apple, but for turning the entire organization around.  With the deal finally done and the two young superstars in place, the pressure now falls on the shoulders of Mike D'Antoni to coach this group assembled by Walsh and the Knicks front office.  So the guys talked all morning long about the new look Knicks and what the future, immediate and long-term, looks like for the team…

Plus, Craig has a problem and Jerry is the culprit, Carmelo Knicks jersey sales predictably take off, Carmelo has his own sandwich, Mitch Modell calls in, Do You Know More Sports Than….Kristin, an interesting sound heard coming from Al, then Al makes us all cheer 'cause Melos on our team', Mike D'Antoni calls in to talk about the new editions, Jerry's highly anticipated Moment of the Day and a Belgium 'Attention Grabber' by the name of Sabrina…

Craig had some problems this morning when making his morning drink which consists of 'Throat Coat' & honey.  You see he uses a 'Keurig Brewing System' to make his morning concoction and this morning someone used the it prior to him and failed to discard their used coffee 'K-Cup' which made for a mess for Craig.  The culprit was ole Jerry 'Rello' Recco himself, who was issued a stern warning but was let off the hook this time, which was good because he had an update to deliver…

Now that we know he'll be wearing the #7, Craig wondered what kind of sales Carmelo's Knicks jersey will do over the next several weeks, so Steven from NBA Shop.com called in to lend his expertise on the subject of projected jersey sales…

Carnegie Deli wasted little time in trying to capitalize on the 'Carmelo Craze' as the world famous deli named a sandwich after the newest NY superstar.  The sandwich consists of pastrami, corned-beef, salami, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Russian dressing (a not so subtle shot at Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov).  Craig and his high cholesterol can't wait to get his hands on one and the story reminded both him and Boomer of their first ever meeting, which took place at the Carnegie Deli…

Mitch Modell is the owner of Modell's Sporting Goods and like everyone in the business of selling Knicks merchandise these days, needless to say Mr. Modell is tickled pink.  He joined B&C to talk about not only the 'Melo' jersey sales, but the sales of all things Knicks as the whole town is wrapped up in the 'Melo-Madness'…

On Wednesday's we like to play a little game called, 'Do You Know More Sports Than…',  which is really just an excuse for Al to reach out to a Gal that has emailed us expressing interest in playing the entertaining game or a gal that he tracked down of FaceBook and would like to try and 'smash-out'.  Either way the game is very popular and today we had Kristen from one of the 'Islips' out there on Long Island and she was challenged by a fella named Santana…

From time-to-time Jerry likes to play a little game with the guys called, 'What The Hell Was That' which is always a lot of fun.  Today though, there was very little suspense as everyone knew what the sound was, but that was all part of the fun…

Al is not a really big Knicks fan or fan of basketball for that matter, but what he is a fan of is music, especially the art of rewriting a hit and making it his own.  So with that and the fact that Al too has fallen under the 'Melo-Spell' he locked himself in his lab and emerged with a parody song paying tribute to the Knicks and Carmelo and he performed it LIVE on today's Radio Program.  He used the Beatles 1966 hit 'Yellow Submarine' and didn't bother to come up with an original title for his creation…

With the addition of Carmelo Anthony & Chauncey Billups (among others) to the Knicks roster, to guys welcomed a call from Mike D'Antoni to talk about the shake-up and what it might mean for his team moving forward.  D'Antoni was very upbeat, but admitted to having mixed emotions about the whole thing…

For his highly anticipated Moment of the Day, Jerry had a little fun at Al's expense and then the guys had a little fun at mine…
