B&C Show Blog & Audio: Lookin' For A Little Help
Bobby Dwyer
With no meaningful football to watch over the weekend (the Pro Bowl does not count), when the show ended on Friday we all wondered what we would be talking about come Monday morning. Then we hear that the Wilpons, the owners of those 'Not So Amazin' Mets, are lookin' for a little financial help, to the tune of 20%-25% of ownership. Boomer & Craig both agree that nobody is going to want to buy a mere 25% of the team, calling it a vanity purchase at best. St John's upsets Duke at MSG last night and Boomer starts preparing for 'Puppy Bowl 7 '...

Plus, a caller suggests Jerry Seinfeld pony up some dough to buy the Mets and our own Jerry 'Rello' is bunkered down in Texas preparing for the Super Bowl, Boomer presents Craig with a generous and thoughtful Birthday gift, Darryl Strawberry tells Craig that there is nothing funny about the Mets financial situation, Kurt Warner gets an odd and inappropriate autograph request, John Minko breaks down St. John's big win over the Blue Devils, a Moment handpicked by Lupus and an 'Attention Grabber' with some new resume material…
With the Mets in what appears to be pretty good financial troubles, Anthony in Bellville called in and suggested long time Mets fan Jerry Seinfeld buy the team. The guys liked the idea, but Craig questioned what kind of Mets fan Seinfeld actually is. Then Boomer wished his radio partner a Happy Birthday, as Craigie is celebrating his 42nd birthday today. Then we heard from Jerry, who is in Texas all week covering the Steelers for the FAN, and he delivered his first update of the Show, which was highlighted by a couple of wins by the Knicks and St. Johns and before it was over, Jerry was singing his own rendition of 'Paperback Writer'...

Darryl Strawberry is a former Mets player, as well as a friend of the Show, so the guys welcomed the 'Straw Man' in-studio this morning to talk with him about his plans to climb to the top of the Empire State Building, in the name of charity. With all of the news surrounding the Mets financial problems, Strawberry talked passionately about the Wilpons and assured Craig that this situation is no laughing matter…

Kurt Warner retired from the NFL after a 12-year career that was highlighted by three Super Bowl appearances, winning one of them in 1999 with the Rams, earning MVP honors in the process. Warner also owns two league MVP awards (1999 & 2001) and his career is regarded as one of the best stories in the NFL or in sports for that matter. He joined B&C in-studio to talk about his storied career and what life has been like since hangin' up the spikes…

WFAN's own John Minko is the radio play-by-play man for the St. John's Red Storm and with the Johnnies scoring an upset of the #3 Duke Blue Devils at the Garden yesterday, the guys welcomed the 'Mink Man' in to get his take on the improbable win and hopefully provide an 'Uncomfortable Minko Moment'…

With Jerry in Texas covering the Super Bowl, he left today's highly anticipated Moment of the Day selection in the capable hands of our 'Breakfast Coordinator' Lupus (aka Rocco/Nick). Lupus predictably took the audio of Jerry belting out a 1966 hit by the Beatles, titled 'Paperback Writer' earlier in the Show…
