B&C Show Blog & Audio: Lee Spurns The Yankees
Bobby Dwyer
The New York Giants played the Minnesota Vikings in Detroit last night and won, thanks to a balanced running attack and some very good defense. With the win the Giants are now tied atop the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles, both teams are 9-4 and will meet in the New Meadowlands on Sunday looking to gain the upper hand in the Division race. All of that is well and good, but the big news this morning revolved around the baseball diamond. The Yankees have been in 'hot pursuit' of Cliff Lee since wrapping up their contract extension with the Captain and all signs pointed to the free-agent left-hander signing with either the Bombers or the Texas Rangers. Well I guess all the signs were pointed in the wrong direction, because this morning we learned that Lee spurned both the Yanks & the Rangers in favor of the team that traded him away last December, the Philadelphia Phillies (holla!!!). As a fan of the Phillies myself, needless to say I am thrilled, but being surrounded by Yankees and Mets fans I understand that I am in the minority. Boomer & Craig opened up today's Radio Program talking about the fallout of Lee's decision and how the Yankees have been left out in the cold so far this off-season…

The Giants kept their winning ways going, winning their third straight game last night in a makeshift Monday night affair with the Vikings. As for the Jets, the wheels have fallen off the Jets bus pretty quickly here in December. Back-to-back losses to Division foes will do that. When you add the story of Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi intentionally tripping Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll during Sunday's game, well the detractors are now out in full force. Boomer took a few minutes to defend the organization he once played for, saying the Jets as whole are being unfairly portrayed…

Heyman is also WFAN's baseball insider so he let us now how this signing came to fruition under the radar and what the Yankees will do from here. Heyman also addressed his twitter war with 'Incarcerated' Bob, which prompted 'the Incarcerated One' to call in…

Jerry kicked-off his 7:30 update talking about the Phillies winning the Cliff Lee sweepstakes and what it means for the Mets moving forward. Then he moved on to the Giants triumph over the Vikings minus Brett Favre, who saw his consecutive game streak end at 297 games, like him or not, that is a mind boggling number…

The guys took a call from a loyal listener who had a bone to pick with Boomer for declaring his 'love' for Tom Brady and the Patriots. He was looking for Craig to back him and Craig did so by breaking into song and singing about the 'dreamy QB'. Carl Banks then called in and panned the singing performance and then cleared the air about something Troy Aikman said on the air last night regarding the Giants long, strange trip…

Now the term 'legend' gets thrown around when talking about great players, but the fact of the matter is that there are really very few players who actually fall in the category of 'legend'. That is not the case for Walt 'Clyde' Frazier, who won two NBA Titles while playing for the Knicks (1970 &1973) and thrived under the bright lights of NY City. These days 'Clyde' can be seen analyzing the action on the MSG Network and today he joined Boomer & Craig in-studio to talk about the good ole days and right off the bat Craig asked him if he feels shunned for the lack of credit he gets for his performance in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals (36 points, 7 rebounds, 19 assists) when the Knicks beat the Lakers 113-99, a game that is remembered for Willis Reed Limping onto the court at Madison Square Garden and inspiring his team to a victory and not for one of the best performances in NBA history, courtesy of Frazier. They also talked about the re-release of his book; 'Rockin' Steady' and the turnaround the Knicks have gone through so far this season…

Jerry loves to hear Craig sing, not really sure why, but something just comes over him whenever Craigie sings anything. So when Craig starting singing about Boomer's love for Tom Brady to Barry White's 1974 hit, 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe' we all had a pretty good idea what direction Jerry was going to go in for his highly anticipated Moment of the Day…
