B&C Show Blog & Audio: Hate Is A Very, Very Big Mistake

Bobby Dwyer

Some may say that rivals are what sports are all about, well yesterday on Boston sports talk radio station WEEI, Tom Brady kept that line of thinking in order.  When asked about the Jets and their appearance on HBO's 'Hard Knocks', Brady stated that he hates the Jets and would not support anything that they do.  So there you have it - he made audible what we all knew he was thinking, no real surprise there I guess - but because of that Boomer and Craig opened up today's program talking about the words that came from Brady's mouth. Speaking of the Jets, word from camp is that they have agreed on an extension for their All-Pro center Nick Mangold, and the guys discuss what effect, if any, this will have on the on-going Darrelle Revis saga.  The Yankees lost a close game in Toronto 3-2 and Boomer says there is legitimate concern for the Bombers' pitching staff, and if there isn't, there oughta be…

Plus, an update form Jerry 'Rello/Rico' Recco highlighted by Boomer sipping some Belgium beer with Bill Cowher, Jim Nantz's adult beverage of choice, the Blonde Bomber's future plans and possible replacement on the radio, Al Dukes' latest song parody for Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, former Mets great Gary Carter talks a little baseball (past and present), Jerry disappoints with his Moment of the Day, and an 'Attention Grabber' hailing from the 45th state admitted to the union back in 1896...

During his first update of the day Jerry covered all of the action from the diamond last night, as well as some off of it, as Johnny Damon has cleared waivers after being claimed by the Red Sox.  Nick Mangold and the Jets have reportedly agreed to a $55 million deal, which can't be sitting well with Darrelle Revis, who has still not reported to Jets camp.  We also heard about Boomer's evening sipping Stellas with Bill Cowher, and Jim Nantz's love for fine wines…

When the guys were talking about outdoor sporting events in New York, naturally the conversation shifted to 2014, when the Super Bowl will be played at the New Meadowlands.  Looking that far ahead got Boomer to thinking about his future and whether or not he will still be working when the big game makes its way to the Northeast.  By working I'm talking about radio, T.V. , everything.  I can't see Boomer ever retiring - and that was not a thought Craig even wanted to entertain - but the subject of who his replacement might be did come up, then we heard all about Craig's vain side, as he has hired a make-up artist for when the boys take the 'Morning Extravaganza' to the MSG Network come September 14th

By now, even the most hardened of Mets fans can read the writing on the wall as far how this season is going to end for the 'Not So Amazins'.  Notice I said 'most hardened fans', that is because we have one fan on the B&C Morning Show staff that has not given up all hope just yet, either that or he uses this vehicle as a form of therapy.  The staff member I'm talking about is Al 'Hughes' Dukes and his therapy is song writing, or parody song writing anyway.  Today we heard Al's latest musical tribute as he used 'Baby One More Time' from one his favorite artists, Britney Spears…

Gary Carter called the Show this morning to talk with Boomer and Craig about the good old days in Queens (Carter played for the Mets from 1985-89), and his journey to the big leagues.  Inevitably the state of the current Mets ball club came up and Carter didn't speak nearly as passionately during that conversation.  These days 'The Kid' is coaching baseball at Palm Beach Atlantic University and living the good life…
