B&C Morning Show: The Mets Are Deflated, Lin Is A Goner & The Yanks Keep Humming Along
Despite their best efforts, the Mets were dealt a deflating loss last night in Washington, falling to the Nationals 5-4 in 10 innings. This one was certainly not without drama, as Terry Collins managed a couple of comebacks late, highlighted by a pinch-hit (for Jason Bay), 3-run homerun courtesy of Jordany 'I Am The Man Right Now' Valdespin. With all that said, Craig has a sneakin' suspicion that last night's set-back, which gives the Mets a record of 46-44, 7 games behind the 1st place Nats, marks the 'beginning of the end' for the Mets 2012 campaign.
Boomer couldn't completely disagree with his radio partner's assessment of their favorite baseball team. After questioning Craig's Mets 'fandom', the Blonde Bomber went on express how frustrating being a Mets fan can be, even turning to Al Dukes to further prove his point.
Even with the struggles on the field, Mets GM Sandy Alderson said the organization has plans to reemploy scouts because they plan on being buyers before the non-waiver trade deadline (July 31st @ 4pm). Craig believes it is a little late for that.
As for the Yankees, they got C.C. Sabathia back last night and beat the Blue Jays for the second straight game thanks to six strong innings from their 'hefty-lefty' and the Bombers just keep humming right along.
Finally, no surprise as it became official that 'Lin-Sanity' will be nothing more than a fond memory, as the Knicks choose not match the Houston Rockets generous offer to Jeremy Lin and therefore he is no longer a member of the Knickerbockers, so there's that too...
