B&C Morning Show: Don King Sits Down with Boomer & Carton
Legendary boxing promoter Don King made the trip to the Allstate Studio this morning to sit down with Boomer & Craig and talk about his career in the boxing game that began with a relationship with Muhammad Ali and took off when he promoted "The Rumble in the Jungle" the 1974 fight between Ali and George Foreman that took place in Zaire.
King has been a controversial figure throughout his lifetime and Craig's first question for a man pushing 80 years-old was why is he still working? King was in this morning promoting his June 25th card on HBO and safe to say the man has still got the charm.
He talked very openly about the numerous fall-outs he has had with fighters he used to promote, including Mike Tyson, who was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame over the weekend (along with Sylvester Stallone for his portrayal of "Rocky"). Craig asked King about both and whether or not they are worthy of the honor.
All in all, King would have you believe that all is well in the sport of boxing and he actually offers a decent argument for his claim. He also revealed that when it came to chasing the ladies back in the day, the "Greatest of All-Time" tag attached to Ali, reached far beyond his prowess in the ring...
