B&C Morning Show: An Ode To Mo; Rivera Gets Save No. 600
Mariano Rivera became just the second pitcher in MLB history to record 600 saves and soon enough he will surpass Trevor Hoffman's record of 601.
Because of that, Boomer & Craig believe today is a day to celebrate Mo's greatness- a Mariano Wednesday if you will.
Unlike his teammate Derek Jeter's pursuit of 3,000 hits, Mariano has climbed to 600 with very little fanfare, which puzzles both Boomer & Craig considering he has done it with the bright, hot spotlight of New York shining upon him the entire time.
Either way, Craig is just so thankful that Mariano and the Yanks perform here in the Big Apple, because according to him the rest of the New York sports landscape (outside of the Jets) is not offering too much in the way of entertainment.
Continuing the theme of paying tribute to Mo, Boomer ran down a list of other great athletes such as Michael Jordan, Walter Payton & Wayne Gretzky among others and put Rivera in their class. The Blonde Bomber tried to include Rod Gilbert, but Craig wasn't having it, conceding to Boomer that Gilbert probably is the best Ranger of all-time, but then compared that honor to being the tallest little person in the circus.
From there we heard about some of Boomers' old Bengals (Who Dey!!!) teammates and how Craig is preparing for tomorrow when the legendary Joe Montana will join the guys live in the Allstate Studio...
