B&C Morning Show: A Smorgasbord Of Topics, Including Knicks' Iman Shumpert

With Boomer out taking a day to himself ( translation: a reprieve from his radio partner), Craig was on his own to cover a whole myriad of topics, beginning with the Knicks using the 17th selection in last night's NBA draft to take guard Iman Shumpert out of Georgia Tech.

Craig stayed up to watch the draft until the Knicks made their selection, and he was baffled by the reaction from the fans on hand at the Prudential Center when Shumpert's name was announced by Commissioner David Stern.  Inexplicably, Shumpert was "welcomed" to New York by a chorus of boos, led by Craig's "old buddy" Spike Lee.

Craig was indifferent about the pick, admitting to not knowing too much about Shumpert and suspected few others knew all that much either, hence the puzzlement by the negative reaction.  Craigie deduced that overall the draft was a bore to watch, but a lot of story lines did emerged from last night's spectacle in Newark.

In Flushing yesterday afternoon the Mets, behind a solid performance from Chris Capuano, beat the A's 4-1 at Citi Field.  The Mets also got some good news on the David Wright injury front, as the All-Star third baseman has been cleared to resume baseball activities and should return in 2 to 3 weeks.  Craig was cautiously optimistic about the news.

The Yankees, on the other hand, they got some bad news regarding their All-Star on the shelf, as Brian Cashman admitted that Derek Jeter's calf is not healing as well as they had hoped and his June 29th return is in question.  Craig saw this coming and imagined numerous scenarios surrounding Jeter's pursuit of 3,000 hits and his ample replacement Eduardo Nunez's solid play in the Captain's absence...
