Bad News For McMahon As Murphy Leads In New Senate Poll

This latest survey shows Rep. Chris Murphy leading Republican Linda McMahon by six points.
The October 24 Quinnipiac University poll is a big change from the October 4 poll, which had McMahon ahead 48-47.
The new poll also has Murphy showing very strong among women and older voters. Women back him 52 percent to 38 percent and voters over 55 back him 51-42. Both numbers are marked improvements from the October 4 poll.
Poll director Doug Schwartz said the numbers are similar to a poll taken two years ago when McMahon first tried for a U.S. Senate seat.
"In 2010, Linda McMahon was locked in a close race with Richard Blumenthal, but then, by the end of the campaign, she faded and she ended up getting 43 percent of the vote, which is precisely where she is right now," Schwartz told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.

The poll does find that voters prefer McMahon's ideas for creating jobs.
Schwartz noted that 12 percent said they could change their mind before they go to vote.
