Unidentified Loud Noise Rocks Long Island Towns
BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island received multiple calls Tuesday evening about a loud noise of unclear origins.
Suffolk County police said the calls about the noise in Babylon, Lindenhurst and West Islip began coming in around 6:10 p.m. The incident was still investigation late Tuesday, but police confirmed there was not an explosion.
Back in January, a loud noise and rumbling that people felt across South Jersey and Long Island turned out to be a sonic boom.
The Pentagon confirmed the sonic booms were from F-35's out of Maryland in that case.
