The so-called "Ice Pick Bandit" has been terrorizing women in Manhattan and the Bronx over the past month, following them in elevators and stealing their valuables.
The alleged bandit has struck at least six times. The most recent attacks were reported last Thursday in Stuyvesant Town. Police said two women were held up in an elevator by a man who threatened them with what looked like an ice pick.
1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reports the person of interest, identified as 39-year-old John Martinez, was picked up on a tip. Martinez is said to be an ex-con wanted in a separate case.
