Authorities: 28-Year-Old Man Dies After Plowing Into Yonkers Police Cruiser
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Relatives said that everyone was having a blast in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The whole family was together -- kicking back, dancing and drinking at a cousin's wedding when 28-year-old Brandon Turner got behind the wheel of his green Honda Civic to head home.
Authorities said that they tried to pull Turner over. He then sped off and collided head-on with a Yonkers police cruiser on South Broadway and Terrace Place, killing him and injuring two officers.
Brandon Turner's sister, Katrina, and other relatives, said that he was clearly drunk before going on the last ride of his life.
"It's a lot of guilt, because there were a lot of people there," she told 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg. "A lot of people should have said, 'Brandon, give me your keys.' I called his girlfriend at around 2 a.m. to see what was going on, and she said he had been in a car crash. She was screaming in the phone, 'Your brother's dead! Your brother's dead! Brandon's dead!'"
Another witness told WCBS 880 the crash was unlike anything she had seen before.
"The crash was like 'Boom!' I didn't hear no sirens going off or nothing. All I heard was a screech of tires like it, you know, and I'm looking and I'm like oh shoot they are chasing somebody and that's when the third car came around the corner all wild and the civilian was coming down and he hit him head on," Darlene Dunn said.

Brandon Turner's relatives were left feeling guilty and grief-stricken.
"We should have stopped him," Katrina said. "We should have stopped him."
"If you had met him you would have loved him," she told CBS 2's Amy Dardashtian.
She told Sandberg that she has no idea how many drinks he had, but that he should not have gotten behind the wheel of his car.
The police officers are in serious condition and remain hospitalized. They both underwent surgery Saturday morning.
The accident remains under investigation.
