NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - In the first month of 2013, even as the Times Square confetti was still settling, we have already seen the flu reach epidemic levels, a ferry boat crash and a tragedy on Budd Lake in New Jersey.
WCBS 880's Wayne Cabot produced a montage of some of the biggest news stories of the month, including the Manti Te'o 'catfishing' story.
The union representing New York City school bus drivers and matrons launched a strike, affecting about 152,000 kids.
This was also the month that Lance Armstrong finally came clean about his years of doping to become a cycling champion. Also in sports and due, at least in part, to the cloud cast by performance-enhancing drugs, no one was elected to the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

House Speaker John Boehner also came under fire from members on both sides of the aisle for delaying a vote on superstorm Sandy aid.
President Obama was also sworn in for his second term in office last week.
