NYPD: Attempted Rape Suspect Surrenders After Seeing Himself On TV
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man wanted for an attempted rape in Manhattan surrendered to authorities after seeing himself on TV, according to police.
Nineteen-year-old Anthony Ramon of Harlem was seen on surveillance video from an apartment building on West 172nd Street in Washington Heights, police said.
Around 1 a.m. Saturday, police said he attacked a 33-year-old woman as she entered her sixth floor apartment after riding up with her in the elevator.
The victim fought back, ran into her apartment and locked the door, police said. The suspect then fled the building.
According to authorities, Ramon was arrested Wednesday when he turned himself into police after seeing himself on TV. Police said he was charged with attempted rape, burglary, sex abuse, stalking and public lewdness.
