Artists Hit Rockaway Beach To Sculpt Annual Sandcastle Display
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The sun came out just in time for the pros to work their magic at Rockaway Beach on Friday.
Teams of artists hit the beach to build sandcastles as part of the community's annual display, WCBS 880's Ginny Kosala reported.
"It's definitely shocking driving up, seeing the boardwalk is mostly gone. There's a lot less sand on the beach," Jessica Schaefer said.

Schaefer is with the non-profit art group "Creative Time," which sponsored the event on the beach at 86th Street.
"They've rebuilt, it looks great. You can see where the beach is going in the future," said New York artist Sebastian Errazudiz. "We're New Yorkers. No matter how many time you hit us, we'll always be building back up again."
The sand castles will remain in place for the neighborhood to enjoy, unless the rain washes them away.
