Arraignment Set For Boyfriend Of Murdered Brooklyn Woman
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 36-year-old man is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a second-degree murder charge in the death of his girlfriend.
Police said a Daniella Mannino, 34, was found stabbed to death around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in a bathtub at Brian Sohtz's Brooklyn apartment.
The NYPD said Sohtz was arrested in Suffolk County. They said he was headed there when he called a relative who in turn called police.
Sandy Silverstein, a spokesman for Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes, said the victim is the daughter of Joseph Mannino, who is director of the district attorney's office services department.
Hynes will seek a special prosecutor in the case.
People who knew the victim are stunned.
"She was great. I knew her my whole life. Every day we'd talk about life, you know? Good mother, good person," one acquaintance told CBS 2.
Mannino reportedly has a 12-year-old daughter.
It was not immediately known if Sohtz had a lawyer.
