Armed Man Steals $700 From Dunkin' Donuts In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A frightening armed robbery in the Bronx was caught on camera.
Investigators say a man held a Dunkin Donuts clerk at gunpoint on Boston Road in the Eastchester section of the borough earlier this month, CBS2's Aundrea Cline-Thomas reported Monday.
Video shows the suspect inside the store on Jan. 8. His face is covered and his gun is already drawn. Police said he then demanded money.
"I've been coming to this place for the past 10 years and I'm surprised that it happened here," Baychester resident Charles Goh said.
The suspect is seen pointing the gun at a 21-year-old employee's head as she opens the register. Another employee is seen stepping in to help. She frantically puts the money in a paper bag -- some of the cash falls on the floor.
"She must have been scared, petrified," Baychester resident Kathy Vargas said.
Vargas' daughter works at the Dunkin Donuts, but she was not there during the robbery.
"I usually always pick up my daughter when she gets off," Vargas said. "I tell her just to keep me informed, especially while she's working here, only because there's a lot of traffic here."
After the robbery the suspect left the store and was picked up on Connor Street by someone driving a silver Chrysler Pacifica minivan.
"I hope they will be able to identify him and catch him, get him off the streets," Eastchester resident Winston Christopher said
The minivan was last seen going eastbound on Boston Road.
The suspect got away with $700. Police are looking for him and the driver of the minivan.
