Area Store Managers Optimistic About Holiday Sales
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Store managers have said they are feeling better about their business going into this holiday season.
As WCBS 880's Levon Putney reported Saturday, Levin management president Matthew Harding said peak holiday shopping sales are creeping up earlier.

"That's continued from last year and we see retailers responding to that, more retailers opening Thanksgiving Day," Harding said. "That's been controversial but apparently customers like it and they're out there shopping."
In the pre-holiday survey of retailers in Levin Management shopping centers in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, Harding said 43 percent expect sales will peak before and during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
He said he also expects more sales.
And only 12 percent think e-commerce will hurt in-store business, Levin said.
"And that's what we see retailers using e-commerce as another way to reach their customers," he said.
Over 33 percent of store managers surveyed said they are hiring seasonal holiday workers. The figure was just 18 percent last year.
