Aquaphor New York City Triathlon Causes Commuter Alert, Road Closures
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A commuter alert was in effect on Sunday until 1 p.m. for people traveling on the west side of Manhattan.
More than 3,000 triathletes competed in the 12th Annual Aquaphor New York City Triathlon.
The event kicked off from Riverside Park just before 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The event featured a 1500-meter swim in the Hudson River, a 40-kilometer bike ride along the Henry Hudson Parkway and a 10K run in Central Park.
The following roads were closed through 1 p.m.:
- Henry Hudson Parkway northbound from 57th Street to the Mosholu Parkway exit
- Mosholu Parkway to Gun Hill Road
- 72nd Street from Riverside Drive to Central Park
- Riverside Drive from 79th Street to 72nd Street
