NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A former Apple store employee is facing grand larceny and other criminal charges after allegedly purchasing nearly $1 million in Apple gift cards using fraudulent credit and debit card information.
Ruben Profit, 24, of Cambria Heights, is accused of rigging the values on American Express and Visa gift cards and using them to purchase gift cards from the Apple Store location at the Queens Center Mall, where he worked for a three-month period this summer, according to officials.
According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, Profit was in possession of 51 fraudulent credit and debit cards at the time of his arrest. Profit also allegedly had seven Apple gift cards in his possession, valued at $2,000 each.

If convicted, Profit faces up to 15 years in prison. He is scheduled to return back to court in November.
