Cresskill Man Arrested In Connection With Woman Missing For Over A Year
CRESSKILL, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of a young woman in Bergen County last year.
As CBS2's Alice Gainer reported, Mila Kostadinova was last seen at Antony Freay's home at 189 Jefferson Ave. in Cresskill on June 2, 2014.
A rappel operation was completed earlier Wednesday as police scoured the cliffs along the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, New Jersey.
The Palisades Parkway Police tweeted that two officers suffered minor injuries in the process, but found the remains.
The medical examiner has yet to release the identity, but the Bergen County prosecutor said it's the spot Freay pointed out to them.
Freay was arrested and arraigned Wednesday afternoon on charges that include disturbing, moving or concealing human remains, failing to report the death of a person and concealing evidence. He is not charged with killing Kostadinova.
The Bergen County prosecutor said 18-year-old Kostadinova was determined to be in the company of several friends in the hours before her disappearance.
In the days prior, she tweeted that she was "feeling depressed" and also "so I don't live at home anymore..." as well as saying she was on Klonopin, Gainer reported.
Kostadinova's brother, Sava, tweeted at CBS2, saying "Our family is deeply saddened and is currently requesting a bit of privacy as we get through these difficult times."
At the Freay home, one neighbor said the teen lives with his sister and mother, but no one answered the door.
Freay's bail was set at $50,000.
