Anti-Semitic Graffiti Found On Historic Queens Church
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are trying to find out who vandalized a historic church in Queens.
Pastor Terrence Webber said when he arrived at Trinity St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Maspeth around 8 a.m. Wednesday, he noticed a Star of David with a swastika in the center painted on the Church office door.
Similar graffiti was found on other doors at the parish, as well as a picture of a bomb on one of the windows and a "pornographic picture" in the back of the house.
Webber said police responded quickly and that an officer apparently recognized one of the graffiti tag lines.
Webber, who has been with the parish for 18 years, said nothing like this has ever happened before.
"I was kind of surprised but on the other side of the coin I wasn't that surprised after all, it's kind of a sign of the times in which we live that nothing is sacred anymore," Webber said.
The church is 113-years-old.
No arrests have been made.
