Anti-Ground Zero Mosque Ad To Appear On NYC Buses
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- The MTA approved a provocative bus ad that objects to the controversial plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero.
The ad features a plane flying toward the burning World Trade Center towers with an image of the mosque nearby.

The ad was the subject of a lawsuit filed by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. The group opposes radical Islamic influence in the U.S.
The transit agency said it did not endorse the advertisement's views.
The mosque proposal sparked a national debate over the limits of tolerance and the symbolism of Ground Zero.
The name for the planned Islamic cultural center was changed from the provocative Cordoba House to Park51. Cordoba was symbolic of the centuries-long Islamic conquest and occupation of Spain that began in 711 A.D. and ended in 1492 A.D.
