Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis Saved Baby While Filming 'Carpool Karaoke'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Red Hot Chili Peppers' front man Anthony Kiedis is being hailed as a hero for saving a baby's life during a "carpool karaoke" recording with "Late Late Show" host James Corden.
The segment featuring Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer aired Monday.
But when they stopped filming for a dance-off, Kiedis said a frantic Los Angeles mother came running out her house with her baby girl who had stopped breathing.
She handed the baby to Kiedis.
"The baby was not breathing," Kiedis said in an interview with Radio X. "I thought I'm gonna try to do a little baby CPR."
But Kiedis said the baby's mouth wouldn't open.
"So I started rubbing the belly. Bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place, the ambulance showed up and I handed the baby over, who was now breathing and fine and we went back to the 'carpool karaoke,'" he said.
Kiedis said he doesn't feel like a hero, he's just glad the baby was OK.
"When you're a dad and somebody yells, 'My baby,' you run across the street," he said.
"Late Late Show" producer Ben Winston confirmed the story on Twitter Thursday.
You can catch "The Late Late Show with James Corden" weeknights on CBS.
