Another Weekend, Another Mess Of Subway Service Disruptions
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- In what has been a familiar refrain lately, yet another weekend is chock full of service disruptions on the subway system.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported Saturday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has conceded that multiple weeks of disruptions are nothing short of a pain for riders.
"It's an inconvenience," said MTA Chief Spokesman Adam Lisberg. "We realize it's an inconvenience."

Lisberg said the agency feels everyone's pain.
"Everybody who works at the MTA -- we're also inconvenienced by this as well," Lisberg said. "I live one station away from where we're standing, and I always have to look at the advisory on Friday to find out if I can take the local F or not."
Lisberg said some of the work is needed to deal with the lingering effects of Sandy.
"People think that we're the exception of a few stations, it's all back to normal," Lisberg said. "It's not."
Lisberg said the MTA refuses to let the system revert to the disrepair of the 1970s.
For this week, the following changes are in place:
No. 1 Train: The line is shut down between 14th Street and South Ferry all weekend, because of reconstruction at the long-shuttered Cortlandt Street stop. A shuttle bus will run between Chambers Street and the South Ferry terminal.
Also, No. 1 trains are running express between 34th Street -Penn Station and 14th Street, skipping the 18th and 23rd Street stops. The No. 2 and 3 trains will stop at the local stations.
Downtown No. 1 trains are also skipping the 238th Street station in the Bronx due to work at the station.
No. 2 Train: Trains are running local between 34th Street-Penn Station and Chambers Street all weekend.
No. 3 Train: Trains are running local between 34th Street-Penn Station and Chambers Street between 6:30 p.m. and midnight Saturday and Sunday.
No. 4 Train: Uptown trains are running express during the overnight hours through Sunday night into Monday morning, from 14th Street-Union Square to 42nd Street-Grand Central.
Also, downtown No. 4 trains are skipping the 138th Street-Grand Concourse stop during the overnight hours through Sunday into Monday.
No. 5 Train: The No. 5 Train is running only from Dyre Avenue to East 180th Street in the Bronx from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The line will not go farther south into the Bronx or into Manhattan at all.
No. 6 Train: Uptown No. 6 trains are running express between 14th Street-Union Square and 42nd Street-Grand Central during the overnight hours through Sunday into Monday.
A Train: For the fourth consecutive weekend, the A train is not running between 168th and 207th streets at all this weekend. Two shuttle buses are in place, one running along Broadway between 168th and 207th streets, the other on Fort Washington Avenue between 175th and 181st streets.
Also, downtown A trains are running express during the overnight hours when they would typically run local, through Sunday into Monday, between 59th Street-Columbus Circle and Canal Street. Uptown A trains are running express throughout the weekend in Brooklyn, between Euclid Avenue and Broadway Junction.
C Train: The C train is not running between 145th and 168th streets this weekend. Service is terminating at 145th Street, while the A train will stop at the 155th Street and 163rd Street-Amsterdam Avenue stations.
Also, downtown C trains will run express from 59th Street-Columbus Circle to Canal Street, and uptown C trains will run express between Euclid Avenue and Broadway Junction in Brooklyn, until 11 p.m. Saturday.
D Train: Downtown D trains are running express from 36th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center in Brooklyn during the overnight hours, through Sunday into Monday.
F Train:: Brooklyn-bound trains are being rerouted to the M line from 36th Street in Queens to 47th-50th streets in Midtown Manhattan all weekend. Brooklyn-bound trains will also be rerouted over the A line all weekend from West 4th Street in Manhattan to Jay Street-MetroTech in Brooklyn.
G Train: The G train is not running this weekend between the Church Avenue and Hoyt-Schermerhorn stops in Brooklyn. Trains are running in two sections – between Court Square in Queens and Bedford-Nostrand in Brooklyn, and as a shuttle running every 20 minutes between Bedford-Nostrand and Hoyt-Schermerhorn in Brooklyn.
J Train: J trains are running in two sections all weekend – one between Jamaica Center and Essex Street, and the other as a shuttle every 20 minutes between Essex and Chambers streets.
M Train: Trains are not stopping at Central Avenue until August.
N Train Downtown trains are running express from 36th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center during the overnight hours, through Sunday into Monday.
R Train:: Downtown trains are running express from 36th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center between 6:30 a.m. and midnight Saturday and Sunday.
