Another Morning Of Commuting Woes For NJ TRANSIT Riders
NEWARK, NJ (CBSNewYork) - It was another challenging morning for some NJ TRANSIT riders, although perhaps some of the difficulty was mitigated by virtue of the Columbus Day holiday.
Early Monday, Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line and Raritan Valley Line trains were delayed up to 30 minutes into and out of Newark Penn Station.
The reason? Amtrak signal and switch problems.
Fortunately, the issue was resolved by around 7 a.m.

It's just the most recent trouble for NJ TRANSIT. Recently, three teens were killed walking along the tracks in two separate incidents. Those deaths had officials considering what they could do to improve rail safety.
Over the summer, there were numerous signal failures and delays on NJ TRANSIT lines, which were also devastated by Tropical Storm Irene.
