Cuomo's approval rating has dropped to its lowest level ever, 44 percent. Forty-two percent disapprove.
That compares to a 50-39 percent approval rating in March.
Cuomo's Approval Rating Hits New Low In Latest Quinnipiac Poll
As CBS2's Dick Brennan reported, the drop appears to be tied to the chaos in Albany.
"This does affect the strength of the governor's hand as he tries to exact stuff from the legislature and he tries to achieve his agenda," Baruch College Professor David Birdsell explained.
Birdsell said the Albany corruption scandals that have claimed the Assembly Speaker and Senate Majority leader, left Cuomo with a new leadership to negotiate with.
"When people are sniping with each other it tends to take down both's positive numbers," Birdsell explained.
"It's a little better than a standoff for the governor," Assistant Polling Director Maurice Carroll told 1010 WINS. "And it's a bad poll for New York politicians. Can Albany fix itself? A lot of New Yorkers don't think so. That's what they tell Quinnipiac. And most of them think that Cuomo is part of the problem, not the solution."
Fifty-five percent of voters think all elected officials in Albany should be voted out of office, according to the poll.
"Voters tell Quinnipiac they rather like their own Assembly member or senator, but they think that the whole pack of them ought to be thrown out in order to clean up the corruption that hangs over the state government," Carroll told WCBS 880's Rich Lamb.
"There have been no charges of corruption leveled against the governor or anyone in his administration, but when the stench gets this bad, everyone starts to smell," Carroll told 1010 WINS.
