Amtrak Derailment Causes Service Disruptions For NJ Transit, LIRR
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An Amtrak train derailment caused more issues for area commuters late Thursday afternoon only days after a major NJ Transit derailment in Penn Station.
NJ Transit and Long Island Rail Road trains were affected by an Amtrak derailment in Sunnyside Yard. Earlier Thursday NJ Transit customers were subject to delays of up to 30 minutes.

Northeast Corridor, New Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct trains were affected, according to NJ Transit.
Long Island Rail Road also had to cancel its 5:26 p.m. train to Port Washington because of the Amtrak derailment.
As if 8 p.m. Thursday, service on NJ Transit and LIRR was operating close to normal.
The latest public transportation issues come following the aforementioned derailment on Tuesday.
Customers were forced to connect to PATH trains and buses in addition to enduring long delays and crowded trains. The derailment also cut overnight service Tuesday while the issues were resolved.
