Amtrak Clears Signal Problem But Delays Continue On Northeast Corridor
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Trains are running again between New York and Philadelphia after Amtrak cleared a signal problem that had halted rail service.
The problem was detected around 3 p.m. Tuesday and was cleared about 30 minutes later. Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole said the problem was located somewhere west of Newark, but further details weren't immediately disclosed.
New Jersey Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says delays of about 20-30 minutes are occurring on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Raritan Valley lines. And those residual delays are expected to continue through the evening commute.
NJ Transit had been cross-honoring tickets on its buses and those from private carriers during the service disruption, but Durso says that is no longer happening.
