Amex Files Suit Against Celebrity Adviser Kenneth Starr
NEW YORK (AP) -- American Express is accusing a jailed financial adviser to the stars of failing to pay $350,000 on his Platinum and Gold cards.
The company filed the suit against Kenneth Starr in Manhattan state Supreme Court. The lawsuit names Starr and his accounting firm. It did not specify what the money was used for.
A lawyer for American Express declined comment. Starr's lawyer did not return a call for comment.
Starr is accused of masterminding a $59 million Ponzi-like scheme. He's been behind bars since his arrest in May on securities fraud. He has worked with Wesley Snipes, Sylvester Stallone and Martin Scorsese, though there's no indication they were victims.
