American Red Cross Hosts Blood Drive At Citi Field
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - With the Mets on the road, Citi Field is instead hosting a blood drive.
One woman told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall that she donates as an adult because her brother needed a transfusion when he was a child.
"I try to donate as much as I can because people do need blood transfusions and I have no problems doing it," she told Hall.

Another donor at Citi Field said he frequently gives blood.
"This is approximately my 80th donation. I'm not a rich person so this is the one thing I can give," he said.
The Red Cross said they're trying to get the word out that blood donations are badly needed.
"This year, the American Red Cross experienced the lowest supply in over 15 years...we had to issue and emergency appeal at the beginning of the summer and we have come back a little bit, but we're still not out of the woods," Donna Morrissey with the Red Cross told Sophia Hall.
Morrissey said giving blood is an easy way to make a difference.
"It takes a little over an hour of your time and it could help three people," she said.
The Red Cross said O negative is the universal blood type but all types are needed.
Those who donate blood at Citi Field received a pair of Mets tickets.
