Amadou Fall Charged With Scamming FedEx To Send Packages To Africa
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - Amadou Fall is being held without bail on charges that he ran a FedEx scam.
He's accused of stealing the identities and account numbers of over twenty major companies and then using his contacts in Manhattan's West African community to attract customers.
The 45-year-old promised FedEx shipping at bargain basement rates.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. says Fall made 63 of these shipments to destinations as far off as Senegal and Mali.

Some were delivered and some were intercepted by FedEx as being fraudulent.
FedEx was alerted to the scam when several companies disputed shipping charges.
"The defendant used stolen property to offer his customers by promising them FedEx service at bargain basement prices," said Vance. "This case not only affected FedEx, it also harmed many shippers and receivers who had their packages intercepted by authorities before reaching their destination. I thank our partners in law enforcement and the FedEx Corporation for their assistance with this investigation."
The scam cost FedEx $80,000.
