Allegedly Drunken Driver Arrested After Sideswiping Car, Taking Off Through Holland Tunnel
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Port Authority police said Monday that a driver who sideswiped a car in Manhattan and then went through the Holland Tunnel was arrested after he got stuck in traffic in New Jersey.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokeswoman Erica Dumas said Monday that Joseph Trainor of Hillside, New Jersey, was arrested on a number of charges, including DWI.
Police radioed the driver's description after the crash Sunday evening then tried to stop him as he emerged on the New Jersey side. Police said he refused, but was halted by the heavy traffic.
Dumas said the driver would not get out of his vehicle and officers used ``minimum necessary force'' while cuffing him.
She said he ended up with minor scrapes on his face and hands.
