Alleged Wrong-Way Driver Charged In Long Island Road Rage Incident
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Charges were filed Monday against an alleged wrong-way driver, after a shocking case of apparent road rage in the Long Island municipality of Holbrook.
Thomas Brown Jr., 37, was charged with reckless endangerment in connection with the incident, which happened around 11:45 a.m. on July 24.
Brown was driving down Route 454, Veterans' Memorial Highway, when he came up to a road construction zone where two lanes merged into one, Suffolk County police said.
He and another driver allegedly got into an argument about who was going to merge first. Brown was waiting to make a left turn onto Coates Avenue, when he claimed the other driver threw something at his vehicle, police said.
Brown then allegedly unleashed a slew of profanity at the other driver as, police said, he drove eastbound down the westbound lanes of Route 454, CBS 2's Jennifer McLogan reported at the time.
"As he drove past me he literally blew me a kiss and waved for me to come and that's what started it," the target of the road rage, who withheld his name, said.
Cars swerved out of the way as the chase continued through Bohemia and Holbrook and past MacArthur Airport. Drivers were shocked as they watched the scene unfold.

Brown was arrested at his Holbrook home on Sunday, and charged with reckless endangerment, police said. He will be arraigned at a later date.
