Alleged Underage Drinking May Land L.I. Man Behind Bars
BAYVILLE, N.Y. (CBS 2) -- A father on Long Island could facing jail time for allegedly buying alcohol for his son's 17th birthday party.
Nassau County police said they discovered the underage drinking when they responded to calls about a loud party at a Bayville home.
When cops arrived, as many as 100 teenagers ran out.
Inside, officers found all kinds of booze.
"Empty beer cans and other bottles of liquor and they also noticed what appeared to be a young man who was unconscious and unresponsive. So they immediately summoned medical aid," said Lt. Kevin Smith of Nassau County Police.
The 16-year-old was treated for alcohol poisoning.
Police said the homeowner, Jeffrey Schneider, admitted he bought beer for the party. He was issued a citation.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to a year in jail.
