AG Schneiderman Reviewing Rising Gas Prices As Part Of Working Group
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been appointed to a federal working group examining oil and gas markets for potential wrongdoing.
Schneiderman said the working group created at the request of President Barack Obama is just getting started on its investigation. Other members include representatives from the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, Security and Exchange Commission and Treasury Department.
Schneiderman was in Buffalo Friday talking about high gasoline prices.
In addition to his role on the federal panel, he says his office is reviewing rising gasoline prices in the state following consumer complaints of pricing disparities from one gas station to another.
The AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge report shows the national average for gas at about $3.98 per gallon, but it averages $4.17 in New York.
