Adam Jones: Fans Who Run On Field Should Get Kicked By Metal Spikes

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- During the Yankees-Orioles game at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, two fans ran onto the field.

They were quickly tackled by security personnel to a resounding cheer from the crowd.

Many find such incidents to be humorous and entertaining, but Orioles center fielder Adam Jones was not at all amused. He was visibly frustrated with the trespassers.

"They should let us have a shot to kick 'em with our metal spikes," the three-time All-Star told reporters after the O's crushed the Yankees, 14-5.

Jones further elaborated on the troubling issue with WFAN hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton on Wednesday morning.

"You're grown men," Jones said to Boomer & Carton. "I understand you're drunk and you want to prove to your friends that you can follow through on a dare. I get that, I've been there ... We're up there trying to do a job, and first off, we're not there for the fans. The fans are there for us ... It's a simultaneous type of thing. But we have no idea what their intentions are.

"We don't know if they come on the field with ... They can come give us either gummy bears or a shot in the a--. We don't know that ... It's not funny."

Aside from the fans' distractions, Jones had a pretty good day in the Bronx on Tuesday. Not only did his team get the best of the Bombers, but the three-time Gold Glove Award winner went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs, two RBIs and a walk.
