Aaron Rodgers Rips Jets' Mark Sanchez For 'Embarrassing' GQ Photo Shoot
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Aaron Rodgers is not a fan of Mark Sanchez's recent photo spread for GQ magazine, calling one shot in which the Jets quarterback is wearing white pants "embarrassing."
Rodgers, Green Bay's Super Bowl MVP quarterback, said Wednesday during his radio show in Milwaukee that the type of shoot Sanchez did "is not really my style. I like my anonymity. I like my privacy."
He also singled out the white pants photo during "The Aaron Rodgers Show": "I mean look at this. That's embarrassing. Page 94 of the GQ thing here. That's terrible."
So basically, don't expect to ever see Rodgers in the style magazines.
"I like being able to be the quarterback during the week and, in the offseason, just be able to do what I want to do and not have to be in the public eye."
Sanchez took the high road when asked about the comments: "I think he was, obviously, making a joke out of it, and that's fine, giving me a good ribbing like the guys on our team.
"That's totally understandable, but I'm just happy that it ended up working out for a good cause and we got to partner with two great companies and one great charity, with Hugo Boss and Tuesday's Children. It worked out for the better and I can take a little razzing for the way it ended up. I know he's just joking around, so that's totally fine."
Rodgers may have just opened the floodgates. Another player gave Sanchez some grief over the photo shoot on Wednesday -- Dallas Cowboys linebacker Victory Butler.
"Oh, yeah, good looking," Butler replied when asked during a radio interview if Sanchez is a good quarterback. "How could you not want to sack a guy like that?"
The Jets will take on the Cowboys in prime time on Sunday, the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
"If the refs give me enough time, maybe I'll whisper a couple of sweet nothings in his ear," said Butler. "I have his GQ if he wants to sign it for me. I'd really like that. I really want him to sign the cover of this for me. It'd be nice."
