AAA, New Jersey to Reimburse Drivers Who Needed a Tow

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Tow trucks and roadside assistance plans in New Jersey were flooded with calls after the Christmas weekend blizzard.

AAA reported getting more than 4,000 calls from Garden State drivers -- a 69 percent spike over normal levels, said spokesperson Kathleen Lewis.

WCBS 880's Levon Putney said AAA is still offering help for those who were stranded.

"If you're a AAA member and you couldn't get our services,you can go to one of our offices or call and, based on your membership, we'll reimburse you the cost of that tow," said Lewis.

The state's Department of Transportation is offering to reimburse drivers who had to pay for a tow truck after getting stuck on the highway during the blizzard.

According to the AP, further information on eligibility and how to submit claims will be provided in the coming days.
