AAA Mid-Atlantic: N.J. Gas Prices Rising Sharply
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Motorists continue to see sharply higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of regular gasoline on Friday was $3.63, up 7 cents from last week. That's also much higher than a year ago, when New Jersey motorists were paying $2.69.
Meanwhile, the national average price rose by 8 cents to $3.82. That's also much higher than the national average from a year ago, which was $2.86.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the rising pump prices in New Jersey follow a parallel rise in crude oil prices.
Oil, which has been rising slowly since 2009, has gained momentum as the Libyan rebellion effectively shut down its exports. Crude has jumped 28 percent since the uprising began in the middle of February.
