A View Like No Other: Time Releases Stunning Photo From Atop One World Trade Center

NEW YORK (CBSNEW YORK) -- It's a view like no other.

Time magazine has released a 360-degree interactive image from the top of the mast on One World Trade Center.

The image is an exclusive to help launch Time's newly redesigned website.

Senior editor Jonathan Woods climbed to the top of the nation's tallest building to take hundreds of photos which were then pieced together to create one stunning image.

"Over the course of the five hours that we were up there we shot about 567 images that were later stitched into a 14.5 gigabyte panorama," Woods told 1010 WINS.

Users can zoom in and out of the panoramic photo to explore the entire city, according to Time.

"It is like you can see the whole world up there," Woods said. "You can see everything from the George Washington down to the Verrazzano Bridge. You can see all the way up to the northern tip of Manhattan; you can see three airports by pivoting on your feet. You see LaGuardia, Newark and JFK just by turning your head, it's amazing."

Woods said the image offers extreme depth and clarity.

"It is as close and as real as it can be without you climbing up the spire to see it yourself. It's better than what you can see with your own eyes because it's so high-definition," Woods said. "If you were to print this image out it would be longer than a tractor-trailer."

Woods said Time's goal was to memorialize and pay tribute to the rebirth of lower Manhattan after 9/11 and honor the construction workers, volunteers and others in rebuilding the tower.
