A-Rod Mocked In New York Sports Clubs Ad In New York Times
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Will A-Rod be the butt of performance-enhancing drug jokes forever? Even his home city has found a way to mock the slugger.
Alex Rodriguez is currently in the process of appealing his 211-game suspension that was handed down by MLB for his alleged ties to the Biogenesis of America clinic. New York Sports Clubs recently released an ad in the New York Times and in am New York that mocks A-Rod due to the possibility of a major pay deduction associated with his suspension.
"Alex, losing $34 million? Don't miss our summer sale. Join today and keep that A-bod," the ad reads.
The ad was also posted in the Boston Herald on Monday from Boston Sports Clubs.
Since returning to the Yankees from his Triple-A rehab assignment, the third baseman has played in six games. He's hit one home run and is batting .273.
The Yankees will travel to Boston on Friday to face the Red Sox in a three-game series.
