A-Rod Goes Hitless Again, Drops To 2 For 18 In Rehab Assignment
TAMPA, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A day after having a rehab game rained out, Alex Rodriguez went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts for the Tampa Yankees on Saturday, dropping to 2 for 18 (.111) with one RBI and five strikeouts in his injury rehabilitation assignment.
Rodriguez played seven innings in the field at third base. He also was hit in the lower back by a pitch.
Prior to his rained out game on Friday, Rodriguez met with Major League Baseball officials probing the distribution of banned performance-enhancing drugs.
Rodriguez is coming back from January hip surgery, has played seven games for Tampa and Charleston, both Class A farm teams. His rehab assignment can extend through July 21.
MLB investigators are probing the closed anti-aging clinic Biogenesis. Rodriguez has said he used PEDs while with Texas from 2001-03 but has denied using them since. He was linked to Biogenesis in a report in January by Miami New Times.
