A Look At This Year's Hot Holiday Gifts
GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - As the gift-giving season approaches, shoppers all across the region continue to search for the perfect presents.
CBS 2's Carolyn Gusoff headed out to Roosevelt Field Mall set out to find the season's hottest sellers and asked shoppers: "What's in the bag?"
"I got a pair of jeans for my husband and a sweater," said one woman.
"I think there are sweaters, Christmas ornaments, I don't know," a man told Gusoff.
"Somebody asked me for a pillow so I'm buying them a pillow," a shopper said.
"Clothes, a little jewelry," a man told Gusoff.
Gift wrappers also weighed in on the hot holiday gifts.
"We're seeing a lot of Ugg boots. We're seeing a lot of cosmetic products," said Seth Pitlake with the Kiwanis Club of Merrick.
In the electronics department, tablets are still tops.
In the toy store, what's old is new again, Gusoff reported.
"Mickey Mouse and more Mickey Mouse," said one man.
The PlasmaCar is selling out and talking Elmo is back playing peek-a-boo, Gusoff reported.
For grown-ups, little luxuries are big. At Bloomingdale's, hardshell luggage and cashmere is in demand.
"We have some fantastic cashmere pieces in the way of scarves and mittens and gloves," Bloomingdale's PR manager David Kirschenbaum told Gusoff.
But some shoppers said the best things come in small packages and are opting for gift cards.
"It's convenient, gives them options," said one woman.
"All gift cards this year, making my life easy," another shopper told Gusoff.
There are just 15 shopping days left before Christmas.
