A, D Subway Lines Rerouted After Wheel Reportedly Falls Off Train
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A and D express trains were running on the local track Saturday, after a train reportedly lost a wheel on the Upper West Side.
The MTA only said the cause of the reroute was a "rail condition" near the 81st Street-Museum of Natural History stop. But the New York Post elaborated that an A train lost a wheel just after 9 a.m., forcing subway crews to evacuate passengers to a rescue train that took them to 59th Street.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said as of the noon hour, downtown A and D trains were running on the local tracks between the 125th Street and 59th Street-Columbus Circle stations. The latest update as of the 3 p.m. hour indicated that the service change was still in place.
All C Train service has been suspended while the A line runs local.
