A Backstage Look At The Grammys As Crews Gear Up For Music's Biggest Night
LOS ANGELES, Calif(CBSNewYork) -- A logistical feat that required no less than a small army was underway on Saturday as crew worked to prepare for music's biggest night.
The Grammys will air on CBS 2 on Sunday night, CBS 2's Teri Okita reported.
Before 21 different musical acts can perform on Sunday, more than 325 microphones and 4 rotating stages need to be set up.
Even after 34 years at the helm Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich still sees ways to fine tune the show.
"What we really need to do is to continually reinvent ourselves to match what is going on in music," Ehrlich said.
That means keeping up with technology and consumers' changing tastes.
"Everybody knows what to do. It's very complicated. It's very demanding. there isn't really a lot of margin for error," music mixer John Harris explained.
Three time Grammy host LL Cool J said that the artists are able to make it look easy because of everything that goes on behind the scenes.
"They are unsung heroes that are diving to give Katy Perry a couch drop, you know what I mean?" LL said, "There's a lot going on backstage."
Ultimately, it's what you don't see at the Grammys the makes the show pitch perfect.
