Sept. 11 Memorial Taking Shape
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - The Sept. 11 memorial is scheduled to be open for next year's 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, but the site is already taking shape, as WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reports from Lower Manhattan.

The pools for both the north and south towers are virtually completed. They're actually installing the granite panels on the inside of both pools.
Just to the east, you can see the steel going up for the museum pavillion.
"Most of the work thats taken place to date, so far. has been below ground and so, this is the first sign of progress above ground," says Lynn Rasic, vice president of the memorial.
By Sept. 11 of next year, this entire plaza should be completed.
Victims' relatives will be able to visit the plaza at this year's anniversary ceremony.
