9/11 Memorial Reaches Milestone, Surpassing Four Million Visitors
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - The National September 11 Memorial and Museum reached a milestone, less than a year after opening.
More than four million people have visited the memorial at the World Trade Center since it opened on the tenth anniversary of the terror attacks.
The nonprofit foundation said visitors have come from all 50 states and 170 countries to see the two giant reflecting pools ringed by waterfalls that make up the memorial.
Memorial President Joe Daniels said the visitors help preserve the memory of those who died.
